Job summary

SEIU, based at its Washington, DC HQ, seeks an Assistant Director for Immigration to lead strategy, policy development, and coalition work on federal immigration. The role focuses on advancing pro-immigration legislation, coordinating with AFL-CIO and unions, and guiding legislative documents and outreach.

The position reports to the Deputy Director for Immigration and will oversee staff in policy analysis, research, and testimony preparation, engaging diverse partners and stakeholders to build

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy or related field.
• 5–7 years of direct immigration lobbying or 8 years as an immigration legislative assistant.
• 4 years in immigration campaigns or policy analysis at senior level.

Responsibilities

• Lobby Congress and Executive Branch officials on policy and legislation; develop strategy and related activities.
• Lead in developing strategies for immigration legislation and lobbying materials.
• Assist in building relations with Congressional committees and Members of Congress to advance priorities.
• Lead development of legislative documents, explainers, target lists and reports as directed.
