Job summary

CHIRLA seeks a Deputy Director of Communications to lead the communications team and advance its mission through strategic plans, media outreach, and digital storytelling. This role supervises the Communications Manager, Digital Content Manager, and Graphic Designer, coordinating with program staff to promote CHIRLA’s messages.

The Deputy Director will guide content across web, press, social media, and events, ensuring high-quality materials, and reporting on performance with the Communications

Qualifications

• Degree in communications, journalism, or related field.
• Minimum five years of relevant communications experience.
• Minimum three years of supervisory experience.
• Excellent written and verbal English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute CHIRLA's strategic communications plan with measurable goals.
• Supervise communications staff and coordinate with program teams.
• Draft, edit, and distribute press advisories and releases.
• Manage digital content, web, and media campaigns.
• Develop training and capacity-building for staff and partners.
• Strengthen media relationships and report metrics regularly.
• Support fundraising communications and grant writing as needed.
