Job summary

DC Army National Guard is seeking a Food Service Specialist to provide meals and nourishment for Soldiers, both in field and fixed facilities. You will learn to plan menus, prepare and serve food, and ensure food safety and sanitation while supporting missions.

You can pursue civilian cooking roles with enhanced skills gained here, and training includes 10 weeks of Basic Training and nine weeks of Advanced Individual Training. This role offers paid training and benefits.

Qualifications

• Must be eligible to enlist in the Army National Guard.
• Must be between ages 17 and 35.
• Must have a high school diploma or GED or be a junior in high school.
• Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards.
• Citizenship requirements apply.

Responsibilities

• Bake, fry, braise, boil, simmer, steam and sauté as prescribed by Army recipes.
• Operate, maintain and clean field kitchen equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance on garrison and field kitchen equipment.
