Job summary

DC Army National Guard is seeking a dedicated Food Service Specialist to provide meals for Soldiers, plan menus, prepare and serve food, and ensure safety and sanitation in field kitchens or fixed facilities.

You'll learn to operate kitchen equipment, manage supplies, and gain paid training, tuition assistance, and retirement benefits through part‑time service. This role blends military duty with civilian food service skills that pave the way to a future in kitchens and catering.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Interest in cooking and health is a plus.
• Basic math and portion control understanding helpful.

Responsibilities

• Bake, fry, braise, boil, simmer, steam and sauté as prescribed by Army recipes.
• Operate, maintain and clean field kitchen equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance on garrison and field kitchen equipment.
