Job summary

The DC Army National Guard is seeking a Food Service Specialist to provide meals for Soldiers in garrison or field settings. You will plan, prepare and serve food while ensuring safety and sanitation in both field and fixed facilities.

You will train to operate kitchen equipment, manage menus, and learn related skills, with opportunities for a civilian career in food service after service. Paid training and tuition assistance are offered.

Qualifications

• Enlistment in the Army National Guard.
• Must be between 17 and 35 years old.
• Must have a high school diploma or GED or be a junior in high school.
• Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards.
• Must meet citizenship requirements.

Responsibilities

• Bake, fry, braise, boil, simmer, steam and sauté as prescribed by Army recipes.
• Operate, maintain and clean field kitchen equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance on garrison and field kitchen equipment.
