Job summary

DC Army National Guard is seeking a Food Service Specialist to ensure proper nutrition for Soldiers and to support both field and fixed facility kitchens. You will learn to plan menus, prepare and serve meals, and maintain strict food safety standards in diverse environments.

The role offers paid training, a path to tuition assistance, and a structured training program including Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training to build culinary and Soldiering skills.

Qualifications

• Ability to plan menus and prep meals for groups of varying sizes.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation in a kitchen environment.
• Interest in cooking and nutrition helps in daily duties.

Responsibilities

• Bake, fry, braise, boil, simmer, steam and sauté as prescribed by Army recipes.
• Operate, maintain and clean field kitchen equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance on garrison and field kitchen equipment.
