Job summary

DC Army National Guard is seeking a Food Service Specialist to provide sustenance for Soldiers, plan and prep menus, ensure food safety, and support field and garrison dining facilities.

You will learn kitchen operations, operate field equipment, and have paid training with tuition assistance; benefits include Montgomery GI Bill, health care, and retirement benefits for part-time service.

Qualifications

• Must be enlisted in the Army National Guard.
• Must be at least a junior in high school or have a high school diploma or a GED.
• Must be between the ages of 17 and 35.
• Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards.
• Must meet citizenship requirements per NATIONALGUARD.com.

Responsibilities

• Bake, fry, braise, boil, simmer, steam and sauté as prescribed by Army recipes.
• Operate, maintain and clean field kitchen equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance on garrison and field kitchen equipment.
