DC Army National Guard is seeking a Food Service Specialist to provide meals for Soldiers, plan menus, prepare and serve food, and ensure food safety whether in the field or at a fixed facility.

You will learn to manage kitchen equipment, maintain sanitation, and earn while you learn through paid training and tuition assistance; benefits include a monthly paycheck and opportunities for civilian food career.

Qualifications

• Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards
• Military enlistment in the Army National Guard
• Must be at least a junior in high school, or have a high school diploma or a GED certificate
• Must be between the ages of 17 and 35
• Must meet citizenship requirements (see NATIONALGUARD.com for details)

Responsibilities

• Bake, fry, braise, boil, simmer, steam and sauté as prescribed by Army recipes
• Operate, maintain and clean field kitchen equipment
• Perform preventive maintenance on garrison and field kitchen equipment
