Job summary

Meta is seeking an experienced Security Engineer to join our Nation State leadership team. You will work across security and engineering teams to drive strategy, influence stakeholders, and develop detection and response automation leveraging both industry-standard and custom detection and response platforms.

You’ll also work alongside Security Engineers and Analysts to identify critical assets and TTPs, assess the top risks, and evaluate potential attacks against Meta systems.

Qualifications

• Understanding of risk in a fast-moving environment.
• 10+ years in offensive/defensive cyber ops, detection & response, or similar security engineering.
• Experience communicating across functions to drive solutions.
• Experience delivering executive-level security strategies.
• Engineering mindset to understand and reason about complex systems.
• Experience designing systems for responding to external and insider threats.
• B.S. in Computer Science or relevant field, or equivalent work experience.

Responsibilities

• Identify and prioritize areas of risk across the company.
• Lead cross-company workstreams to deploy capabilities from multiple security teams to mitigate risk.
• Apply attacker mindset to strengthen incident detection and response capabilities for complex threats.
• Perform threat modeling for assets including endpoints, servers, cloud environments, and networks.
• Review security architecture and propose logging, detection, and prevention controls.
• Collaborate with policy and legal teams to strengthen standards and governance.
• Build response workflows that auto-resolve false positives and provide context for investigations.
• Influence asset-owning teams to adopt appropriate access control designs.
• Support security incident response across a cross-functional environment.
• Build logging pipelines using custom datasets and infrastructure.
