Job summary

AV is seeking a technical/scientific manager to lead teams in metal nanoparticle synthesis, characterization, and scale‑up from lab to pilot and full production. You will guide cross‑functional groups, ensure process integrity, and align R&D with manufacturing goals.

The role emphasizes leadership, program planning, and collaboration with engineering, quality, and EH&S to deliver scalable nanomaterial technologies with strong safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Masters or PhD in Material Science, Chemistry, Nanomaterials or related discipline (or equivalent).
• 5 to 7 year of demonstrated experience in product development and product life cycle management in chemical and/or nanomaterial production.
• Experience with leading technical teams through the product development lifecycle.
• Experience with drawings and BOMs; Engineering Change Management (ECM); Quality systems for non‑conforming parts and corrective action.
• Experience in an Agile and Waterfall development environment.
• Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communication skills to government PMs, Government and Organizational senior leaders.
• Experience project planning in terms of schedule, budget, and resource estimations.
• Exceptional leadership and management skills, with the ability to develop and communicate a vision that inspires and motivates staff and aligns with the business strategy.
• Ability to build strong relationships within all disciplines within organization.
• Effective influence and negotiation skills in an environment in which resources may not be under your direct control.
• Experience with product manufacturing and product configuration processes.
• Experience leading a multi‑disciplinary team in an engineering environment.
• Experienced and proficient with MS Office applications and other office productivity tools.

Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership (Metal Nanoparticles): Provide expert guidance on design, synthesis routes, surface functionalization, and characterization methods. Ensure methodologies meet quality, performance, and safety standards.
• Scaling & Production Management: Lead scale‑up from bench to pilot and full manufacturing; optimize process parameters and oversee tech transfer to manufacturers.
• Process & Operations Oversight: Plan and direct daily operations; review progress against milestones and KPIs; prepare technical and operational reports.
• Resource Management: Allocate equipment, facilities, and personnel; manage maintenance and calibration schedules to minimize downtime and ensure data integrity.
• Team Management: Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate scientists, engineers, technicians, and operators; develop nanosafety and data‑driven decision making.
• Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work with engineering, product, quality, EH&S, supply chain, and business teams to integrate nanoparticle tech into products.
• Compliance, Safety & Standards (Nano‑specific): Ensure adherence to regulatory and safety standards; implement nanosafety protocols and documentation.
