Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. in the United States seeks a technical/scientific manager to lead nanoparticle research, development, and production activities.

You will guide teams through design, scale-up, and transfer to manufacturing, ensuring science-based decisions align with safety and quality standards. Responsibilities include overseeing metal nanoparticle design, synthesis routes, characterization, and process optimization; managing cross-functional teams, budgets, schedules, and documentation,

Qualifications

• Masters or PhD in material science, chemistry, nanomaterials or related discipline (or equivalent).
• 5 to 7 years of product development and lifecycle management in chemical/nanomaterial production.
• Experience leading technical teams through the development lifecycle.
• Experience with drawings, BOMs, ECM and quality systems for non-conforming parts.
• Experience in Agile and Waterfall development environments.
• Strong communication skills to government PMs and senior leaders.
• Experience planning schedules, budgets, and resource estimates.
• Exceptional leadership and ability to align with business strategy.
• Ability to build relationships across disciplines and negotiate where needed.
• Experience with product manufacturing and configuration processes.

Responsibilities

• Technical leadership on metal nanoparticle design, synthesis routes, and characterization.
• Scale-up from lab to pilot lines and full manufacturing with robust workflows.
• Direct daily operations in nanoparticle production and laboratories.
• Allocate resources, manage equipment and facilities, and ensure data integrity.
• Hire, train, and evaluate scientists, engineers, and operators; foster nanosafety.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate nanoparticle tech into products.
• Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards.
