Job summary

The NYC Health Department’s Overdose Education and Naloxone Distribution Unit seeks a City Research Scientist to support naloxone distribution data, ensuring timely submissions and high data quality. You will analyze data, build Power BI dashboards, and strengthen reporting across many OOPPs in NYC.

The role involves collaboration with BADUPCT staff, use of Access and R Studio for data cleaning, and contributing to equity-focused public health initiatives within NYC.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental science or public health.
• For Assignment Level II, a doctorate with supervisory/leadership or a master's with three years of responsible research experience.
• Two years of City Research Scientist Level I experience can be substituted for the required experience at Level II.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with OENDU and BADU to collect and analyze naloxone data in NYC.
• Use Access and/or R to clean and maintain naloxone data.
• Generate Power BI dashboards and data tables for program evaluation in NYC.
• Solicit monthly naloxone distribution reports from over 190 OOPPs; provide technical assistance as needed.
• Train OOPPs to submit dispensing data via the Naloxone Dispensing Form; monitor submissions to improve response rate.
• Enter monthly distribution reports timely into databases and prepare data for processing.
• Develop surveys and RedCap forms for dispensing data collection.
• Collaborate with NYS DOH AIDS Institute and other BADUPCT staff to maintain OOPP registrations.
• Provide timely responses for naloxone data requests and related information.
• Refine systems for tracking naloxone dispensing data.
• Support Naloxone Inventory Coordinator in packaging naloxone kits.
• Participate in OENDU meetings and assist with scheduling and agendas.
• Support agency-wide equity initiatives.
• Other duties as assigned.
