Job summary

Aon plc in the United States seeks a Head of Employment Law, North America, to lead strategy, governance, and risk management for NA employment law across the enterprise.

You will counsel NA executive leadership and the People Organization, oversee sensitive investigations, and ensure compliant, ethical practices across jurisdictions while leading a NA team of employment lawyers and professionals.

Qualifications

• Law degree and admission to practice in at least one key jurisdiction.
• 12+ years of post‑qualification employment law experience, in‑house or top‑tier firms.
• Experience managing complex employment issues and high‑stakes matters.
• Strong understanding of NA employment markets and cross‑border considerations.
• Experience with M&A, restructurings, restrictive covenants, and executive compensation.

Responsibilities

• Lead NA employment law strategy with the NA People Organization and enterprise priorities.
• Advise on hiring, performance, discipline, terminations, compensation, and wage and hour issues.
• Oversee policies, handbooks, and training to ensure jurisdictional compliance.
• Advise on AI use in talent initiatives, ensuring ethical/legal compliance.
• Support workforce strategy, change management, and restructurings.
• Manage external counsel for litigation and regulatory matters.
• Serve as trusted adviser to senior leadership on high‑impact issues.
• Design governance frameworks and risk monitoring for NA employment law.
• Collaborate with People Organization to embed ethical conduct and compliance.
