Affinitas Education is seeking a Controller for the U.S. & Canada to lead accounting operations, financial reporting, and multi-entity close processes across a growing North American network of schools.

You will standardize practices, drive budgeting and forecasting, and ensure compliance with U.S. and Canadian standards, coordinating audits and tax filings while partnering with regional leadership to support strategic growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA designation strongly preferred.
• Experience in accounting, financial reporting, and controllership.
• Experience in multi-entity or multi-location organizations.

Responsabilités

• Oversee accounting operations and financial reporting for U.S. and Canada.
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and multi-entity reporting.
• Establish standardized accounting practices and reporting procedures.
• Budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow monitoring, and financial planning.
• Analyze financial results against budgets and forecasts, identify trends and variances, and provide actionable insights.
• Develop reporting packages and dashboards that improve visibility into financial performance across schools and entities.
• Maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures to safeguard assets and promote accountability.
• Ensure compliance with applicable U.S. and Canadian accounting standards, tax requirements, and financial reporting obligations.
• Coordinate external audits and support tax filings, regulatory reporting, and the resolution of identified risks or control gaps.
• Improve accounting workflows, reporting processes, and financial systems to strengthen accuracy, efficiency, and consistency.
• Identify opportunities to reduce manual work, standardize procedures, and implement scalable processes that support organizational growth.
• Partner with school and operational teams to improve financial data collection, documentation, and adherence to established procedures.
• Support and develop finance and accounting colleagues, establishing clear responsibilities, expectations, and accountability.
• Build strong working relationships with school leadership, regional executives, the broader Affinitas finance team, and external financial partners.
• Communicate financial issues proactively, recommend solutions, and share best practices while recognizing the needs of individual schools and jurisdictions.
