Job summary

Boom Supersonic is hiring an electrical engineer to own the 13.8kV medium‑voltage system end‑to‑end—from architecture through energization, endurance testing, and field commissioning—ensuring reliability for a standalone power platform for frontier AI data centers.

You will define MV architecture, perform protection studies, and coordinate with turbine controls to deliver scalable, islanded power for critical loads.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with medium-voltage systems in industrial or power-generation settings.
• Solid understanding of rotating machinery: excitation, AVR, synchronization, transients.
• Experience with protection coordination, relay settings, and commissioning ownership.
• Ability to read and produce MV electrical drawings (one-lines, layouts) unambiguously.

Responsibilities

• Define MV architecture and protection philosophy during preliminary design.
• Produce protection coordination studies and MV drawings.
• Lead first energization, relay commissioning, synchronization, load acceptance, and testing.
• Oversee MV generation, distribution, protection, and interconnect considerations.
• Coordinate generator excitation and interface with turbine control.
• Select CT/PT, metering, sensing for protection and control.
