Job summary

American University in Washington, DC seeks a part-time Music Ensemble Assistant to support the Ensemble Director and faculty with scheduling, attendance tracking, and preparation for rehearsals and performances.

You will arrive ahead of classes, set up, assist with stage changes, and help strike the stage after performances, as needed. This role requires current AU student status with Federal Work Study and pays $18.40 per hour for up to 6 hours per week.

Job Description

Summary: Assist the Music Ensemble Director and Faculty with a variety of administrative tasks. Assist with rehearsal and performance scheduling, take and track student attendance throughout the semester. Prepare materials and equipment for rehearsal/performance use, facilitate stage set changes, function as stage manager as needed. In negotiation with the Ensemble Director and with the specific needs of each rehearsal/performance, arrive before each class/performance for set-up, and remain after each class/performance to strike stage and return equipment to storage.

• Prepare materials and equipment for rehearsal/performance use, facilitate stage set changes, function as stage manager as needed.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

Part-time. 6 hours per week.

Salary Range

$18.40 per hour.

Required Education and Experience

Current AU student with a Federal Work Study (FWS) award.
