Job summary

The University of North Carolina Greensboro is seeking a School of Music Building Manager & Instrument Inventory Specialist. This role oversees a 1,600+ instrument inventory and 110,000 square feet of facilities, coordinating with faculty, staff, and student workers to ensure smooth operations of classrooms and ensembles.

You will develop and implement systems for issuing/returning instruments, maintain records, manage repairs and preventive maintenance, and assist with the instrument inventory

Qualifications

• A college degree or equivalency and two years of related experience.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Supervisory and/or budget experience.
• Musical knowledge needed to identify equipment and understand user needs.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with music faculty, staff, students, as well as campus & community partners.
• Ability to engage sensitively with and to assist a diverse student body and public in both written and verbal communication.
• Ability and interest to learn supporting technologies (database, scheduling, etc.).
• Ability to function independently.

Responsibilities

• Organize and maintain instrument inventory records for 1,600+ instruments and accessories.
• Manage 110,000 square foot School of Music facilities, including room scheduling, key distribution, and locker assignments.
• Develop and implement systems for issuing/returning instruments, lockers, and equipment for classes and ensembles.
• Hire, train, schedule and supervise student staff for inventory, lockers, and Box Office operations.
• Keep maintenance records and oversee instrument repairs and preventive maintenance.
• Oversee instrument maintenance budget in collaboration with the Director.
• Liaise with campus facilities, insurance/fixed assets, and housekeeping.

Education

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in music or arts-related field

Strong organizational and communication skills
