Job summary

SFMOMA San Francisco Museum of Modern Art is seeking a Visitor Experience Assistant to warmly welcome visitors, sell tickets and memberships, and ensure a world-class experience. You will work on a cross-functional team to support data integrity, assist with queue management, and handle cash responsibly.

The role requires strong communication, punctuality, and flexibility in a busy museum environment, with evenings, weekends, and holidays open.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; hospitality, art history or related fields a plus.
• Minimum 3 years in fast-paced customer service, retail, hospitality or arts environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to operate POS system and handle cash accurately.

Responsibilities

• Greet visitors and answer questions about visits, exhibitions, and programs.
• Sell/general museum, exhibition, and event tickets; promote memberships.
• Achieve sales goals for memberships and gifts; assist with data collection.
• Maintain membership data and benefits information; support CRM data integrity.
• Handle cash and reconcile daily sales with receipts; follow SOPs for data entry and visitor interactions.
• Support crowd control, queue setup, and coat-check operations as needed.
• Provide exceptional, inclusive service aligned with SFMOMA standards.
• Stay informed about exhibitions and artists on display; assist with visitor escalation as needed.
• Collaborate with team to gather visitor feedback and insights.
