Job summary

Japanese American National Museum Store is seeking a part-time Store Associate to promote sales, process orders, and provide outstanding customer service both onsite and online. The role involves 28 hours per week across four days, with one weekend day required and flexible weekday scheduling, plus occasional evenings.

The position handles in-store and remote order processing, inventory support, and member/gift certificate promotions, contributing to program sales and special events throughout

Qualifications

• High School Diploma preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 2 years of retail or front-line customer-facing experience.
• Experience with taking phone orders, processing online sales, and shipping packages is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of Japanese American history and culture is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Promote sales, answer questions, and ring up sales using the POS system.
• Process phone, mail, and website orders; pull, pack, and ship orders.
• Assist in receipt of new merchandise and display it attractively.
• Promote memberships, gift certificates, and other development sales.
• Assist with sales at programs and events.
• Participate in annual inventory and support major events, including Black Friday weekend.
• Interact with and motivate volunteers; work with visitors of all ages.
