Job summary

The San José Museum of Art (SJMA) seeks a part-time Museum Experience Representative to engage visitors and support front-line operations. You will share information about exhibitions, assist with special events, and help create a welcoming museum experience for diverse audiences.

Shifts are Tue–Sun, 10–24 hours/week, including evenings and holidays. Candidates should be able to handle inquiries, support data collection, and collaborate with the Museum Experience and Education team.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer service required.
• Art History knowledge and Art appreciation.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to listen actively to visitors and remain calm in crowds.

Responsibilities

• Provides excellent customer service while ensuring visitor safety.
• Demonstrates knowledge of SJMA exhibitions, programs, and facilities.
• Summarizes observations and supports data reporting needs.
• Participates in data collection on visitors and program engagement.
• Writes reports and assesses visitor engagement as needed.
• Ensures welcoming greetings and orientation for visitors.
• Communicates with diverse visitors to enhance understanding of art and the museum.
• Sets up for public spaces and events; maintains safety measures.
• Responds to emergencies and assists with museum evacuation when needed.
