Job summary

Los Angeles County Museum of Art is seeking a Museum Store Associate to join the front-of-house team. You will provide outstanding customer service while selling museum merchandise, catalogs, books, apparel, and memberships, both in-store and online.

Responsibilities include operating a register, processing orders, stocking displays, wrapping gifts, and sharing knowledge about exhibitions and programs to help visitors and members.

Qualifications

• At least one year of retail experience in a high volume, customer service focused setting.
• Background in Art History preferred.
• Strong skills in point of sale software, preferably Erply and Shopify.
• Basic math skills.
• Must operate with attention to detail and strong organizational skills while managing a continuous workflow.
• Open availability including holidays, nights, and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Operates a register/computer and receives payment for sale transactions while maintaining strict attention to cash handling accuracy.
• Actively promotes, sells store merchandise and LACMA memberships.
• Processes online and special orders.
• Gift wraps merchandise.
• Takes inventory of merchandise stock and maintains stock levels on the sales floor, and maintains store displays.
• Tags and stickers merchandise.
• Exemplifies excellent internal and external customer service skills at all times.
• Maintains knowledge of LACMA policies, membership programs, and exhibition schedules.
• Shares information with colleagues, visitors, and members via written and verbal communications.
• Attends various training sessions as scheduled.
• Escalate customer service issues to Store management as needed.
• Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
• Performs other duties or special projects as assigned.
