Job summary

The Walters Art Museum in Baltimore is seeking an Assistant Manager of Retail Operations to elevate the visitor experience through exceptional service and strategic store management. You will oversee purchasing, POS, inventory, and reporting while driving sales and maintaining high merchandising standards.

With a bachelor’s degree and retail leadership experience, you will lead a diverse team, coach staff, and ensure compliance with cash handling and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree and 1 year of related retail management experience, or 5 years of related retail management experience.
• Demonstrated excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to supervise a diverse staff.
• Strong cash management, inventory control, merchandising, and POS proficiency.
• Experience interpreting retail sales data and metrics.

Responsibilities

• Oversee purchasing, customer service, POS, inventory control, and reporting.
• Maintain retail operations aligned with the museum’s values and merchandising standards.
• Develop and maintain vendor relationships; drive sales through effective merchandising and campaigns.
• Coach staff, track sales performance, and ensure high levels of customer experience.
• Ensure compliance with safety, loss prevention, and cash handling procedures.
