Job summary

The Guest Services Assistant - Retail position at Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum in Tucson supports the Retail team with guest interactions, cash handling, and merchandise operations. The role is part-time (up to 16 hours per week) with a starting rate of $17.52 per hour under the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and 6–12 months related experience or training.
• Ability to use cash handling and retail sales procedures.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Creates outstanding guest interactions with a guest friendly, professional demeanor.
• Processes sales transactions primarily within the retail stores. May assist with admissions transactions as needed.
• Follows Museum and department cash handling and reconciliation procedures.
• Uses upsell techniques to increase sales and donations.
• Ensures stores remain appropriately stocked and visually merchandised as designated by supervisory staff.
• Responsible for the cleanliness of the retail stores and surrounding areas.
• Answers a variety of general queries including wayfinding, schedules, facilities, collections, etc.
• Some duties, including cashiering for special events and other guest service functions, require working outdoors.
• Promotes a safe and sanitary work environment at all times. Practices safe work habits, participates in sanitation procedures, and reports hazards.
