Job summary

LAUKOA seeks an IT Specialist in New London, CT to support museum IT, gallery and theater systems, public connectivity, and digital infrastructure; the role requires maintaining secure, high-uptime networks and adhering to Coast Guard cybersecurity requirements.

You'll monitor VLAN, VPN, Wi‑Fi, and cloud/hybrid systems, perform backups and restoration, manage onboarding/offboarding, provide user and AV support, and work with the AV Media Specialist and Exhibits Maintenance Technician on displays

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in computer science, information technology, or related field.
• 3–6 years of systems administration or technical support experience; museum, library, gallery, public-attraction, or other high-uptime experience preferred.
• Industry-standard certs: CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+.
• Proficiency supporting Windows and macOS environments, network infrastructure, cybersecurity controls, cloud/SaaS platforms, and varied end-user and AV-adjacent hardware.

Responsibilities

• Support museum IT, gallery & theater systems, public connectivity, and digital infrastructure.
• Maintain secure, high-uptime systems following Coast Guard cybersecurity requirements.
• Monitor VLAN, VPN, Wi‑Fi, workstation, and approved cloud/hybrid systems support.
• Perform approved backup, restoration, data-protection, hardware-maintenance, and incident-support tasks.
• Process and track account provisioning and de-provisioning through Government-approved procedures.
• Provide technical support for gallery, theater, presentation, streaming, lighting-control, and AV-adjacent systems.
• Collaborate with AV Media Specialist and Exhibits Maintenance Technician to sustain displays, sensors, and high-bandwidth media distribution.
• Maintain visitor Wi‑Fi while preserving separation from protected resources.
