Job summary

LAUKOA is seeking an Exhibits Maintenance Technician for the New London, CT site. The role involves daily exhibit inspections, cleaning, and routine minor repairs to ensure a high-quality public display.

You will support artifact handling, digital cataloging, and safe movement of display pieces throughout galleries. The ideal candidate has 2–5 years in exhibit work, proficiency with shop safety, and the ability to read blueprints or CAD drawings.

Qualifications

• Two to five years in exhibit preparation, specimen handling or mounting, or safe use of carpentry, electrical, and hand/power tools.
• Ability to read blueprints or CAD drawings.
• Proficiency with shop-safety practices and safe handling of artifacts.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily exhibit inspections and cleaning of cases, vitrines, pedestals, and surfaces using archival-safe materials.
• Carry out minor exhibit and interactive-station repairs and touch-ups to maintain polished public presentation.
• Assist with movement of furniture, equipment, and event-related materials under supervision.
• Handle, move, mount, or unmount artifacts following approved plans and with trained staff.
• Support digital cataloging, display installation, and proper lighting within prescribed lux guidelines.
• Maintain organized storage of pedestals, hardware, and casework.
