Job summary

The National WWII Museum is seeking a Theatre and AV Systems Technician to operate and maintain its multi-sensory theaters and live performance spaces. You will oversee show lighting, Audio, and AV systems, coordinating with stage managers and event staff to ensure smooth presentations.

Responsibilities include routine maintenance, safety inspections, and livestream support for internal events, while ensuring readiness of major venues like the Victory Theater and USS Tang Experience.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years’ experience with theater technologies.
  • Strong technical background in theatrical/live performance AV systems, show controls and electronics.
  • In-depth knowledge of large venue video & audio systems.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have strong troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Ability to manage and work with others in a team-oriented environment.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule that may include weekends and evenings.
  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools and test equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and endure physical requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the multi-sensory theater and related equipment during multi-sensory presentations and alternate use presentations.
  • Execute theater maintenance programs and maintain logbooks.
  • Responsible for the security of all show AV systems, show lighting systems and show action equipment.
  • Operate show AV systems and lighting manually or by cues from a stage manager or event coordinator.
  • Open and close facilities according to SOP and schedules.
  • Prepare facilities inspection reports, equipment inspection reports, and logbooks.
  • Ensure operational readiness of the Victory Theater, USS TANG Experience, and other venues listed.
  • Startup and shutdown of Audio-Visual assignments prior to morning opening and after last show.
  • Setup and assist livestreaming internal events, Operate Audio and lighting.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Directors of the Theater & AV department.
  • Work closely with volunteers and guests on a daily basis.
