Job summary

The Noguchi Museum in Long Island City, NY is seeking a Building Maintenance Technician to preserve and maintain campus buildings, systems and grounds. The role requires hands-on maintenance across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and safety systems and includes supervising vendors and on-call work.

The successful candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, with post-secondary education or certification a plus, and demonstrated ability to read blueprints and operate building management

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• FDNY Certificates or the ability to obtain them is required.
• Passing Bennett Mechanical Comprehension Test is required.
• Read blueprints and electrical/plumbing schematics; familiarity with Building Management Systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Understand and maintain campus HVAC, pumps, and fire protection systems.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on building systems.
• Supervise vendor work, provide access, and monitor progress onsite.
• Operate hand tools, platform lifts, forklifts, voltmeters and related equipment safely.
• Perform repairs in mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and painting tasks as needed.
• Ensure work areas are clean and exterior areas well maintained.
