Job summary

The National Geographic Society is seeking a Custodian to support Base Camp operations at the Washington, D.C. campus. You will perform daily cleaning, restocking, and maintenance tasks to ensure safe, clean public areas and exhibits are ready for visitors.

Responsibilities include restroom servicing, event support, and collaboration with museum and facilities teams. A high school diploma and 2 years of custodial experience are preferred, with flexible shifts including weekends and evenings.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of custodial/janitorial/cleaning experience is highly desirable.
• Experience in a museum or high-traffic public facility is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform general cleaning and sanitization of facilities, including floors, furniture, and surfaces.
• Clean and restock restrooms and monitor maintenance issues.
• Maintain exterior areas and perform seasonal snow/ice removal.
• Manage waste, recycling, and compost per protocols.
• Assist with event setup and breakdown and help staff across departments.
