Job summary

National Geographic Society seeks a Maintenance Technician to perform preventative and corrective maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and life-safety systems at Base Camp in Washington, DC. The role includes CMMS documentation, system balancing, and collaboration with a shift team.

Two years of related experience in a commercial or Class A office environment are preferred. A High School Diploma is required, with trade school training highly regarded.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; trade school certification preferred.
• Two years of maintenance experience on mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems in commercial/office building environment preferred.
• 6th Class Operating Engineer's License encouraged; 24 hours/year CE required.

Responsibilities

• Perform Preventative and Corrective Maintenance (80%): schedule PMs and repair HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and life-safety equipment as directed by Shift Lead.
• Respond to Service Requests (10%): address and resolve unscheduled maintenance issues during shift.
• Administrative and Documentation Duties (5%): document work in CMMS and use equipment manuals.
• System Integrity and Upkeep (5%): assist with new equipment installation, air balancing, and complex system troubleshooting.
