The Yale Peabody Museum is pleased to announce a job opening for a Museum Assistant in its Entomology Division. This is a permanent, full-time position and offers an opportunity to join a growing entomology collection within Yale University’s vibrant natural history museum.
The Museum Assistant will facilitate access to the entomology collection for scholarly research and teaching. Key responsibilities include digital cataloging and inventorying of specimens, maintaining the physical arrangement of the collection, performing care and preservation activities, and engaging with researchers, students, university classes, and the public.
The Entomology Division houses approximately two million dried and fluid-preserved specimens, with a worldwide coverage and particular strength in the Nearctic region. About half a million specimens are currently databased and electronically accessible, including taxa such as Lepidoptera, Apoidea, Culicidae, Odonata, Cicindelidae, and ectoparasitic and disease vector species.
