Job summary

BGE, Inc. is seeking a Professional Engineer (PE) for municipal water and wastewater projects in Austin, TX. Join our Public Works team and work from our Austin offices, with regular site visits and client coordination.

The role requires a Texas PE or eligibility to obtain, 5–7 years of civil experience in water/wastewater design, and proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D with hydraulic modeling tools. Collaboration, accuracy, and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• EIT certification is required for this role.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas preferred or ability to obtain.
• 5–7 years of progressive civil engineering experience focused on municipal water and/or wastewater design.
• Hands-on experience preparing plans, specifications, estimates, design calculations, technical reports, and construction documents.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D; MicroStation experience is a plus.
• Experience with hydraulic modeling software such as WaterGEMS, WaterCAD, InfoWater, SewerGEMS, or equivalents.
• Strong written and verbal communication, attention to detail, and collaborative team approach.

Responsibilities

• Support planning, analysis, and design of municipal water and wastewater projects.
• Prepare calculations, technical memoranda, design reports, construction plans, specs, and cost estimates.
• Perform hydraulic modeling and system analysis using WaterGEMS, WaterCAD, InfoWater, or similar tools.
• Develop construction-ready drawings with AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Coordinate with project managers, senior engineers, CAD designers, subconsultants, and public agencies.
• Provide construction phase support including RFIs, site observations, and submittal reviews.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to QC reviews of design tasks.
• Support client meetings, proposals, and coordination toward independent project management.
