Job summary

The City of Perth Amboy in New Jersey is seeking an experienced, motivated municipal Tax Collector to lead the Tax Office on a full-time basis. Under the Business Administrator, you will supervise staff and ensure accurate billing, collection, accounting, and reporting of property taxes and water/sewer charges.

Required is a valid CTC certificate and knowledge of municipal tax collection laws, with proficiency in Edmunds Financial Software and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Valid Certified Tax Collector (CTC) certificate issued by the NJ DCA.
• Experience with municipal tax and utility collection supervisory roles.
• Proficiency with Edmunds Financial Software Tax/Utility modules.
• Strong Excel, Outlook, and Word skills.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the Tax Office and supervise staff.
• Prepare and issue tax and utility bills.
• Receive, deposit, and reconcile payments; maintain records.
• Administer delinquent accounts and conduct annual tax sales.
• Prepare financial and operational reports for City officials.
• Ensure compliance with NJ statutes and local government requirements.
