The City of St Joseph is seeking an engineer to support planning and construction of public infrastructure, including water, sewer, drainage, roads, and safety paths. Responsibilities include reviewing plans for compliance with standards, preparing bid documents, maintaining maps, and conducting site visits.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field is required.
FE exam passed or within 3 years of hire.
PE license within seven years is preferred/required.
Valid Michigan Driver’s License required.

Responsibilities

Manage, review and oversee private development, including water and sewer main extensions, commercial and residential development.
Review project plans and specifications for conformance with Township ordinances.
Assist in preparing plans, specifications, and bid documents for engineering projects and procurement of contracted services.
Update and maintain Township maps and as-built records.
Assist in planning special assessment petitions for roads, water main and sewer construction.
Conduct engineering studies and prepare reports/presentations.
Assist other Township departments in reviewing permit applications.
Coordinate activities of engineering consultants and inspectors; perform site visits.
