Role Description

The City Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in St. Clair Shores, MI, responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing municipal engineering projects and infrastructure. This position manages the design, construction, and maintenance of streets, stormwater systems, water and sewer facilities, and other public works improvements, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and regulations. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing engineering plans and specifications, preparing cost estimates and project schedules, coordinating with consultants and contractors, and conducting field inspections to monitor project progress and quality. The City Engineer collaborates closely with other city departments, elected officials, and external agencies, provides technical guidance on development and capital improvement projects, and responds to resident inquiries regarding public infrastructure. The role also involves preparing reports and presentations, supporting long-term infrastructure planning, and recommending improvements that enhance safety, sustainability, and service delivery across the community.

Qualifications
