Job summary

Brookfield is seeking an interim and permanent Highway Superintendent to lead the Highway Department, oversee operations, budget, and compliance.

The role requires managing personnel, projects, safety, and coordination with other town departments; candidates should have driving license and related certifications.

This is a 40-hour week on-site position with salary range $85,000 to $92,000 depending on experience.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• CDL B license with standard transmission endorsement preferred.
• Lift/Hoisting License with 2A/4E/4G endorsements required.
• Massachusetts Driver's License with clean record.
• Massachusetts Medical Certificate required.
• 5–7 years in municipal highway administration preferred.
• Welding, mechanic, or fabrication knowledge are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs and supervises the Department's work, including road maintenance and equipment upkeep.
• Prepares and administers departmental budget.
• Develops policies and long-range plans to meet community needs.
• Reviews projects, schedules, and procurement per state law and town policies.
• Supervises personnel, recruitment, evaluations, payroll and records.
• Ensures compliance with safety laws and conducts safety trainings.
