Job summary

The Town of Brookfield is seeking a full-time Highway Superintendent to lead the Highway Department.

The role requires strong supervisory and administrative skills, budget oversight, project coordination, and ensuring safety compliance with federal, state, and local laws. A CDL B is required, with preferred licenses, and a valid Massachusetts driver’s license; 40 hours per week with additional hours as needed.

Salary up to $105,000 annually and equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Valid CDL B (A preferred) with standard transmission endorsement.
• Lift/Hoisting License with 2A and 4E and 4G endorsements.
• Massachusetts Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record.
• Massachusetts Medical Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs and supervises the Department work, including road maintenance and vehicle upkeep.
• Prepares and administers departmental budget.
• Develops department policies and long-range plans.
• Coordinates projects, bids, and contracts with town procurement rules.
• Supervises personnel and payroll, and maintains records.
• Ensures compliance with safety laws and training.
• Operates department vehicles and equipment as needed.
• Represents the department at meetings and with the public.
