Job summary

The City of Delray Beach is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Worker to maintain city buildings, grounds and parks, perform mowing and litter control, and operate related equipment. Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and at least one year of heavy manual labor experience. A valid Florida driver's license is required.

Work schedule is Wednesday through Sunday, 8:30am–5:00pm. This role supports public facilities and collaborates with multiple crews.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of landscape maintenance, or tree care and/or turf installation.
• Knowledge of tools and equipment to do related work.
• Ability to perform heavy manual labor under adverse weather conditions.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to complete daily work sheets and/or keep records.
• Skill in operation and preventative maintenance of equipment and tools related to the position.
• Knowledge of building and/or grounds maintenance.
• Physical condition, strength and agility commensurate with the demands of the position.
• Maintains buildings, cleans, scrapes, paints and performs litter control functions as required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain various buildings, grounds and/or parks, cleans, scrapes, paints, etc.
• May spray grounds with insecticides and herbicides.
• May install turf on field, parks and other grounds. Perform litter control functions.
• Perform preventative maintenance functions on the vehicles.
• Make daily written and oral reports.
• May operate vehicles, mowers and other equipment; tree trimming tools, chain saw, clipper, and bucket truck.
• Performs building and ground maintenance activities such as mowing, weeding and general grounds work.
