Job summary

The City of Lufkin is seeking an Engineering Technician to support municipal engineering, utility coordination, development review, and CAD/GIS mapping. You will collect field data, assist with project coordination, and help maintain infrastructure records.

The position requires an Associate degree and at least one year in related municipal fields; valid Texas driver’s license is required. The role is essential and may involve emergency operations.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in engineering technology, drafting, GIS, surveying, or a related field.
• One year of experience in municipal public works, engineering plan review, GIS, CAD, GPS data collection, or related work.
• Must possess a valid Driver's License Class C at time of placement and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and processes water and sewer service requests, utility coordination, permits, and related development matters.
• Reviews engineering plans for utility locations and development-related infrastructure to ensure compliance with city standards and regulations.
• Prepares and maintains CAD drawings and GIS databases using AutoCAD, ArcMap, or similar software.
