City of Taft (TX) is seeking an Accounts Payable Clerk to support the Finance Department in processing invoices, reviewing documentation, coding against the general ledger, and preparing payments in accordance with city procedures.

You will maintain accurate vendor records, reconcile balances, respond to inquiries, assist with month-end close, and help ensure compliance with internal controls and applicable laws governing public funds.

Qualifikationen

• Requires high school diploma or GED and 1 year of accounts payable or related financial clerical experience.
• Experience with computerized accounting systems and Excel preferred.
• Knowledge of basic accounting principles and internal controls beneficial.

• Process vendor invoices, statements, purchase orders, contracts, and other payment requests.
• Verify invoices for accuracy and proper authorization; ensure supporting documentation.
• Enter invoices into accounting system with appropriate general ledger codes.
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies; maintain vendor records.
• Prepare payment batches and supports, ensuring compliance with procedures and timelines.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing and audit requests.
