Job summary

The University of Washington's Facilities Maintenance & Construction team on the Seattle campus seeks a Maintenance Mechanic II. This role performs semi-skilled building alterations, repairs, and installations across carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical trades to support campus renovation projects.

You will collaborate with journey-level trades and campus partners, follow safety procedures, and contribute to timely project completion; duties include door/boiler work and equipment

Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized apprenticeship as a journey worker, OR full-journey status in a union; or four years’ applicable work experience.
• Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license may be required.
• Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform semi-skilled building alteration, construction, installation, repair, and renovation across carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical work.
• Patch, repair, and paint walls; repair doors, windows, and related hardware.
• Assist and coordinate with journey-level personnel and other trades on projects; determine material and tools needs.
• Operate hand and power tools, forklifts, scissor lifts, UW vehicles, and stage materials at job sites.
• Ensure safety compliance with SDS, HRCs, PPE, and UW policies.
