Job summary

Bassett Healthcare Network in Cobleskill, NY is seeking a Sonographer I to perform diagnostic ultrasound exams, operate ultrasound equipment independently, and deliver high-quality patient care under the supervision of Medical Imaging leadership.

The role includes on-call shifts, equipment maintenance, QA participation, documentation in EMR/PACS, staff training support, and ongoing professional development to stay current with vascular and general ultrasound protocols.

Qualifications

• Completion of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) or Vascular Technology education, required
• Experience in general ultrasound, vascular or echocardiography, preferred
• ARDMS or RVT registration required within 2 years of hire date, required
• Must be registered in 1 of the following specialties within 2 years: AB (Abdomen), OB (Ob/Gyn), VT (Vascular Technology), BR (Breast Ultrasound)
• BLS Certification must be obtained within 30 days from date of hire

Responsibilities

• Perform clinical responsibilities for conducting ultrasound exams according to departmental procedures.
• Maintains safety precautions to prevent unnecessary injury and ensures equipment maintenance.
• Provides accurate and timely documentation including preliminary impressions and reports.
• On-call shifts as required by location and staffing protocols.
• Assists in training and orientation of new Sonographers.
• Participates in quality assurance programs and accreditation requirements.
• Maintains professional interactions with physicians, staff and patients.
• Completes reporting and billing data in EMR/PACS systems.
