Job summary

61st Street Service Corporation seeks a Certified Medical Assistant to join the ambulatory care team supporting ColumbiaDoctors. You will work with providers across specialties to deliver excellent patient care and maintain a culture of kindness and integrity.

The CMA will greet patients, prepare for visits, perform vital signs, venipuncture, EKGs, specimen collection, and assist with in-office procedures. Evening/weekend coverage and EMR experience are required.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalency and CMA program required.
• CMA or equivalency required.
• Current BCLS/AED certification required.
• Basic computer skills including EHR, Excel, Word, and email.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors, and answer telephone calls promptly.
• Prepare patients for visits, including vital signs and medication reconciliation; assist with walking, transferring, dressing and specimen collection.
• Perform check out tasks such as scheduling and referrals as needed.
• Perform venipuncture and label specimens.
• Collect and label nasopharyngeal specimens for testing.
• Perform EKGs and/or spirometry as requested.
• Enter accurate charges into the EHR.
• Assist providers or other clinical staff with in-office procedures.
• Obtain prior authorizations for medications as requested.
• Maintain diagnostic equipment and QA logs.
• Perform point of care testing.
• Maintain refrigerator/freezer logs and monthly AED logs.
• Other duties as assigned.
