Job summary

The 61st Street Service Corp will hire Certified Medical Assistants to support ColumbiaDoctors, a large multi-specialty practice in the Northeast. Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and CMA program completion.
• CMA certification by credentialing body.
• Current BCLS/AED certification.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients, visitors, vendors, and faculty/staff.
• Prepare patients for visits: organize information, escort, and rooming functions, document chief complaint, update history in EMR (Epic).
• Assist patients with walking, dressing, specimen collection, point-of-care testing, and exam preparation; act as chaperone when requested.
• Assist physicians with examinations, procedures, and department therapies not requiring medical judgement.
• Perform phlebotomy and point-of-care tests (urinalysis, pregnancy tests).
• Label and process specimens; ensure timely delivery and proper lab documentation in Epic.
• Enter orders in Epic; notify physicians/nurses of emergencies and provide first aid.
• May assist with sutures/staples under supervision; open sterile packages under supervision.
• CMAs may not set up/handle sterile fields or perform pre-procedural disinfection.
