Job summary

Smithfield Foods is hiring a Maintenance Technician to keep our plant equipment running smoothly in a fast-paced food processing environment.

You will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical controls, fluid power, mechanical systems, welding, and fabrication. Responsibilities include handling work orders in SAP, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring safety standards are met in daily operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 1+ years of related maintenance experience in an industrial setting, or 4 years of direct maintenance experience in food manufacturing.
• Vocational/Technical diploma or associate degree preferred.
• Ability to work in a team, follow instructions, and communicate effectively.
• Ability to operate powered industrial trucks (PIT) and use hand tools for repairs.

Responsibilities

• Review work orders and use SAP to create and track tasks.
• Perform preventive maintenance on mechanical systems, pumps, packaging, and slicing equipment.
• Repair, troubleshoot, and fabricate replacement parts as needed.
• Install and maintain electrical controls, piping, and related systems.
• Follow safety protocols including LOCKOUT/TAGOUT and GMPs.
