Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking a Maintenance Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and mechanical equipment in a food processing environment. You will handle electrical controls, fluid power, welding, and fabrication, and provide technical support across operations.

Responsibilities include reading blueprints, reviewing work orders, performing preventive maintenance, and fabricating parts. Strong teamwork and safety compliance are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 1+ years in industrial mechanical maintenance or 4 years in a similar role.
• Vocational/technical diploma or associate degree preferred.
• Ability to function in a team and interact with all levels of staff.
• Ability to operate powered industrial trucks (PIT).
• Ability to read and follow work orders and manuals.

Responsibilities

• Receive work orders and plan required tools, time, and parts.
• Respond to crisis calls with basic tools and equipment.
• Read blueprints, electrical schematics, and manuals.
• Disassemble, identify faulty parts, replace, reassemble, and test.
• Disassemble and fabricate replacement parts; welding or sheet metal work when needed.
• Perform preventive maintenance on mechanical systems and install new equipment.
