Job summary

Capper Foundation in Topeka, KS seeks a versatile Facilities Technician to perform diversified duties installing, troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining facility equipment across residential sites.

You will read work orders, determine parts, use carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and other trades, and ensure safety standards are followed. A high school diploma, 3 years in maintenance, and a valid Kansas driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 3 years in a maintenance role preferred.
• Must be able to perform carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical, equipment repair, painting, grounds keeping and janitorial duties.
• Must be familiar with and able to use all hand tools and power tools common to the position.
• Ability to understand complex written and oral instructions.
• Must work in a team environment.
• Read, write and speak fluent English.
• Possess valid Kansas driver’s license and proof of insurance.
• Able to pass background checks per Capper Foundation procedures.

Responsibilities

• Performs general maintenance and repairs on all residential properties.
• Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs on facility equipment during work hours and performs scheduled maintenance on an annual basis.
• Maintains the property grounds, work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
• Assesses maintenance orders for repair or replacement.
• Diagnoses problems, replaces, repairs and tests parts, makes adjustments as needed.
• During inclement weather shovels snow, salts icy patches, etc.
• Installs, moves, repairs and removes equipment and furnishings into and out of residential facilities.
• Contacts outside maintenance contractors.
• Attends meetings with supervisor at least weekly.
