Job summary

FirstService Residential is seeking a Maintenance Technician in the Boston area to perform a wide range of upkeep tasks across common area buildings and recreation facilities. The role includes carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, and snow removal, plus reporting malfunctions and assisting with room setups.

Responsibilities emphasize proactive communication with the General Manager, inventory control, safety adherence, and on-call emergency readiness.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Two years of building maintenance experience.
• Ability to read blueprints or plans.
• Follow verbal and written directions and keep logs.
• May require personal transportation for work duties.
• Knowledge of basic plumbing, wood finishing, electrical and carpentry.

Responsibilities

• Provide regular status updates to the General Manager.
• Monitor and maintain inventory daily; submit requests as needed.
• Take initiative to act with minimal supervision.
• Recognize and address problems quickly and decisively.
• Respond to emergencies; coordinate with responders for community safety.
• Understand and adhere to budgets.
• Complete regular community inspections and status reports.
• Ensure supplies/tools are stored out of sight when possible.
• Perform repairs of common areas and equipment; log work orders.
• Conduct minor repairs on ground-level lighting; replace burned-out lights.
• Sweep, vacuum, mop, wax, strip and polish floors and carpets as needed.
• Dust and polish furniture, woodwork, fixtures, and equipment.
