Job summary

YMCA is seeking a dedicated leader to oversee school-based childcare and camp programs across Hoover, Homewood, and Trussville. The role requires travel and reports to the Executive Director of School Based Programs. It is a full-time position with oversight of staff, budgets, and program quality.

You will design and run Afterschool and Summer Day Camp offerings at multiple sites, ensuring strong family engagement, safety, and positive youth development outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher preferred.
• 3–5 years relevant experience preferred.
• Supervisory and staff development experience required.
• Experience supervising multiple sites.
• Knowledge of budgets and financial processes.
• Strong customer service, oral and written communication, and computer skills.
• Must complete background and child abuse screening; obtain certifications prior to start date.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and run afterschool childcare and summer camp programs across 5–7 sites.
• Lead summer camp teams and support School's Out Camps.
• Track participation, evaluate effectiveness, and adjust programs.
• Build relationships with community organizations to strengthen offerings.
• Recruit, train, and supervise paid staff and volunteers; lead monthly meetings.
• Monitor budgets, payroll, and purchasing; report on progress; ensure safety compliance.
