Job summary

Healthy Kids Programs is hiring a School-Age Childcare Site Director for our After School Program at Oxmoor Valley Elementary in Birmingham, AL for the 2026-2027 school year.

Afternoon program runs Monday to Friday from 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM, following the school calendar. The role includes supervising activities, ensuring safety, and coordinating operations while engaging with families and students.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or early childhood coursework preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience working with children in a school, childcare, camp, or youth program setting.
  • Some experience in a lead or supervisory role preferred.
  • Familiarity with before‑ and after‑school program environments a plus.
  • Knowledge of state childcare licensing or school‑age care regulations helpful but not required.
  • Calm, flexible, and resourceful in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Able to pass required background and fingerprint clearances.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate hands‑on activities following the Healthy Kids Curriculum including fitness, STEAM, academic, art, and other group activities as well as homework completion.
  • Provide a safe, healthy, and fun environment and acting as a positive role model for children in the program.
  • Observe state guidelines, Healthy Kids Extended Day Program policies, and host school policies.
  • Support program operations, which may include attendance records, registration, and staffing responsibilities.
