Job summary

YMCA in Trussville, AL is seeking staff to supervise and engage children in its Afterschool Program. Hours are Monday–Friday from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm, with a pay rate of $16.00 per hour.

The role includes activity planning, safety adherence, and collaboration with a Site Director to ensure a high-quality youth experience. Qualified applicants will be 19 years or older, with prior YMCA childcare experience preferred, and must complete background checks and the required First Aid/ CPR/ AED

Qualifications

• Minimum age 19 years.
• YMCA childcare program experience preferred.
• Successful completion of background and Child Abuse and Neglect screening.
• Acquire and maintain First Aid/ CPR / AED certification and online training modules annually.

Responsibilities

• Engage and supervise a group of children after school (Mon-Fri, 2:00 pm–6:00 pm).
• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities aligned with YMCA values.
• Assist Site Director with schedules, procedures, and site management.
• Adhere to safety, cleanliness, and program standards; follow policies on medical emergencies and abuse reporting.
• Maintain positive relations with parents and staff; participate in meetings and trainings.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
